Art Basel 2019 Manolis Projects Projects Show Review as published in WhiteHot Magazine!

Off the Charts, the show which is up at Manolis Projects, Miami, through Art Basel to the end of March, is that unusual phenomenon, a group show in which the group is not connected by an Ism, by a theme, or by some socio-political or generational network, but one in which work by a group of wholly unalike artists balance each other, bouncing energy to and fro.

A large part of the reason art has become such a focus in new developments is that the buyer’s relationship with fine art has changed. More people feel like experts and connoisseurs and want to live surrounded by celebrated paintings, sculptures and other works of art.

The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject (and subordinate) to the monarch of Britain, King George III, and were now united, free, and independent states.

It was a commission that led J. Steven Manolis to paint Qatari Rhapsodies Sonata #1. Manolis is a colorist, obsessively so, and at the time he had been planning to move on from the brilliant, arterial reds he had used in his series, Redworld, to working with maroon, the rich, dark red, so called for marron, French for chestnut. https://whitehotmagazine.com/articles/qatari-rhapsodies-j-steven-manolis/3941
